Inspiration Quetzalcoatl

The essence of this space is inspired on birth, learning and the transition of Quetzalcóatl, also from its bond to Mother Earth and the Universe.

Quetzalcoatl, beautiful serpent in Náhuatl (Quetzalli: beautiful. Cõãtl: serpent), is one of the principal Gods of the Mesoamerican culture. According to their mythology, the man went through four catastrophic eras that caused destruction and the rebirth of the world.

From a holistic-spiritual point of view, every detail in the house has an order. The wallpaper by the entrance represents the birth of the quetzal. The latticework that binds the house from the garden, is the vertebral column of the feathered serpent that finishes with its face in the lobby. And finally, the mandala of light of the pachamama that represents the heart of Quetzalcoatl. This being the soul of the house.

This mansion is an homage to all the European generations that have migrated to Mexico throughout the years. 

A generational family tree that has blended all these years with a rich and passionate culture; to visit this hotel is to make small journeys and leaps in time. The colors and compositional techniques are designed to create an enchanthing atmosphere in every corner, hall and detail. 

Each floor is a generation, a moment in our history. Starting from the first floor that is full of vintage furniture and eclectic colors that reminds us of our roots. Then, as we climb the steps, we are enchanted with furniture from the 60s & 70s, an age of exploration, and lastly on the top floor, the new generations to come, full of  bright colors & amazing energy that reaches for the sky.  Our walls have stories to tell…

An architectural canvas that brings to life the customs & traditions of the ancient Zapotec culture with its natural frescoes, powerful sculptures and contemporary furniture.

To enter this mediterranean style hotel is to enter an art gallery that evokes the ancient traditions of a innovative culture. Starting with its colorful murals by Rafael Uriegas that cover the main courtyard, natural and handmade frescoes that narrates the legends and myths of the Zapotec Culture. 

Complimented by the powerful sculptures of Sabino Guisu, his homage to the Zapotec God of Thunder & Fertility, Cocijo, es an instalation that brings an astounding energy that trespasses every wall of the hotel to meet the bronze plates of Manuel Lozano that create an abstract representation of the Zapotec Values, art that is always evolving according to every viewer.

Belisario Dominguez was one of the finest politicians in Mexico; a citizen who fought for our freedom of speech and who is remembered every year with a Medal of Honor in his name that is given to distinguished Mexicans for their craft & creativity. This is his legacy.

Every room in this house has a burst of creativity that blends the traditional colors of Mexico (Red, white & green) to create an inspirational oasis that will inspire any artists, worker, foreigner during their stay in this traditional house that resides in the heart of the historic Coyoacan neighborhood.
