El pie es de Tezcatlipoca hermano de Quetzalcoatl, quien se sacrificó para atraer a Cipactli y matarla según la mitología. El maíz lo robó Quetzalcoatl a los dioses del Inframundo y así poder alimentar a la humanidad, para eso tuvo que convertirse en hormiga.
