Agustín Santoyo
Orgía totémica para matar el tabú cotidiano.
Nacido en Morelos, Agustón Santoyo es licenciado en Artes Visuales por el Centro Morelense de las Artes (CMA).
Su trabajo está influido por múltiples referentes de la cultura popular: las artesanías, los textiles tradicionales y la cultura mediática. Su obra, logra que todos estos referentes converjan mediante una estética caracterizada por la repetición de formas, el uso constante del color y el ornamento. Disfruta encontrar y coleccionar objetos cotidianos, intervenirlos y resignificarlos, para incluirlos en nuevos contextos y generar experiencias distintas a través de ellos. Le interesa lograr que objetos, pinturas y espacios dialoguen, así, transformar la lógica y las prácticas que se dan en torno a un sitio.
Sus propuestas, reflejan sus experiencias personales del contacto con su contexto social y cultural inmediato. También proyectan su deseo por explorar nuevos temas y soportes, búsquedas que han encontrado salida a través del collage, pintura, instalación e intervención de espacios u objetos. Acercarse a su obra es como acercarse a una fiesta: es lúdica, dinámica y está hecha para ser disfrutada.

Born in Morelos, Agustín Santoyo holds a degree in visual arts from the Centro Morelense de las Artes (CMA).
His work is influenced by multiple pop cultural references: handicrafts, traditional textiles, and media culture. All of these references converge in his work through an aesthetic characterised by the repetition of shapes, a constant use of color, and ornament. He enjoys finding and collecting everyday objects, reworking them, and giving them new meaning in order to include them in new contexts and create different experiences through them. He is interested in putting objects, paintings, and spaces into dialogue, thus transforming the logic and practices that occur around a site.
His designs reflect his personal experiences of contact with his immediate social and cultural context. They also project his desire to explore new themes and mediums, inquiries that have found an outlet through collage, painting, installation, and intervention on spaces or objects. Approaching his work is like approaching a party: it is playful, dynamic, and made to be enjoyed.
